English Winter Camp 2025
English Winter Camp 2025 is already over.
The next edition of the English Winter Camp organised by PMI Poland, Gdańsk Branch, has ended. As part of the project, educational workshops were held on 17 February 2025 at Mariusz Zaruski Primary School No. 1 in Gdańsk called “Threats to the Environment and Humans from Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment”. The workshops were attended by 19 children aged 9-15 from economically disadvantaged families. The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness of the threats resulting from improper handling of waste electrical and electronic equipment, to promote selective collection of electrowaste, and to develop a pro-ecological attitudes among young recipients.
Educational workshops divided into 3 parts:
The first part was aimed at building awareness among participants about the risks associated with improper disposal of electrowaste:
The concept of electrowaste was defined;
Its harmful effects were discussed;
Guidance was given on how to handle it;
The participants also talked about the recycling process and what happens to electrical and electronic equipment once it is no longer in use.
The children shared their knowledge while discussing the above topics. The workshop leader supplemented the findings with additional insights and interesting facts. The children used the knowledge they gained in the first part of the workshop in subsequent exercises.
The second part was a game in which the participants, divided into teams of two, searched for questions/tasks based on the first part of the workshop. The riddles that were solved were written down in a crossword puzzle. Teams were able to help each other. The aim of the exercise was to encourage cooperation through play, so that issues related to the proper use of equipment and the disposal of electrowaste could be consolidated in the most child-friendly way possible.
The third part was an art workshop. The participants created artworks on the topic of the correct handling of electrowaste and the promotion of environmentally friendly behaviour.
See you at English Summer Camp 2025!
