SPRING COLLECTION OF ELECTRONIC WASTE IN ZERZEŃ
ACTIVELY CELEBRATING EARTH DAY
On the occasion of the upcoming Earth Day, a spring collection of electronic waste and used batteries was held in the Roman Catholic Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zerzeń. On Saturday, April 20th , despite the wind, rain and low temperatures, the Wawer community demonstated a beautiful, pro-environmental attitude. There was no shortage of people willing to properly dispose of their used equipment. From the early morning, the residents of Zerzeń and the surrounding areas visited our mobile e-waste collection point in large numbers. Within five hours, we filled two trucks with used equipment. In exchange for the electronic waste and used batteries the residents received beautiful spring plants and reusable bags.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS ALWAYS NEEDED
Visitors to our stand also received educational brochures and leaflets on the proper handling of used electrical and electronic equipment and used portable batteries and accumulators. Electro-Waste from used equipment and used batteries is classified as hazardous due to the content of toxic substances that easily penetrate the soil, air and groundwater. They pollute the environment and pose a threat to human and animal health. Even though these substances are not dangerous during the operation of properly functioning equipment, they pose a real threat in the event of improper management of the waste generated from them. The residents of Wawer understand that their everyday choices have a real impact on the condition of the environment around them, which is why they attended our event in such large numbers. This fills us with joy and motivates us to continue our efforts.
