Batteries and Accumulators
Entrepreneurs placing batteries and accumulators on the market are required to comply with a range of obligations under the Act on batteries and accumulators (Journal of Laws 2009 No. 79, item 666). Some of them may be transferred to a compliance scheme.
AURAEKO BATERPAK assumes the following responsibilities of the Placing Entity::
- entering into an agreement with a treatment facility which carries out waste batteries treatment,
- the organisation and financing of separate collection of waste batteries and accumulators, including the achievement of minimum annual rates of collection of waste batteries and accumulators,
- the organisation and financing of treatment of waste batteries and accumulators,
- the organisation of public awareness raising campaigns for the general public,
- submittingto the Marshal’s Office annual reports on the weight of batteries and accumulators placed on the market, the achieved portable battery collection rates together with a list of collection points and a list of treatment facilities with which the organisation has signed an agreement, and awareness raising campaigns carried out.
In addition, we provide our Customers with:
- collection of batteries and accumulators,
- a web-based application for swift reporting of quantities and weights of batteries and accumulators placed on the market,
- a dedicated Customer care manager for all the accounts,
- relevant training on updates to current legislation,
participation in the Nature Friendly Company programme and the free use of the NFC logo.

REMAINING OBLIGATIONS FOR THE CUSTOMER:
- obtaining an entry in the BDO (Waste Database) register prior to commencing operations and submitting any updates and changes via submission of update applications,
- placing theirBDO number on invoices and other documents produced in connection with their business operations,
- keeping records of the type and weight of batteries and accumulators placed on the market,
- keeping copy of the agreement with the compliance scheme for a period of 5 years from the end of the year in which the agreement expired.
- correct labelling of batteries and accumulators with the chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb if they contain more than 0.0005% mercury, 0.002% cadmium or 0.004% lead, respectively, by weight,
- marking equipment with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol
- displaying visible, legible, and durable capacity specification on batteries and accumulators,
- attaching instructions in Polish to equipment placed and distributed on the market, in which batteries or accumulators are fitted, with information about the type of batteries or accumulators fitted and their safe disposal,
- for retailers of lead-acid automotive batteries or lead-acid automotive accumulators, there is an obligation to collect used batteries and accumulators of these types from the end-user, as well as an obligation to collect a deposit fee from purchasers who are not economic operators and to acknowledge the collection thereof if, upon the sale of the batteries or accumulators, the purchaser has not handed over the waste batteries or waste accumulators to the seller,
- for retailers of portable batteries or portable accumulators with a sales area greater than 25 m2, there is an obligation to collect separately collected waste portable batteries and waste portable accumulators from the end-user by providing a container for waste portable batteries and waste portable accumulators, without the end-user being required to pay for their collection, and to hand them over to a wholesaler or collector of waste batteries or waste accumulators,
- for wholesalers of portable batteries or portable accumulators, there is an obligation to collect waste portable batteries and waste portable accumulators from the end-user and from the retailer to whom they have handed over waste portable batteries or waste portable accumulators, without them being required to pay for their collection, and to hand them over to a collector of waste batteries or waste accumulators.
