SPRING COLLECTION OF ELECTRONIC WASTE IN ZERZEŃ

Date: 28/04/2025

RECURING ACTIVITIES MAKE SENSE

As every year, in the Roman Catholic Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zerzeń, the spring collection of electronic waste and used batteries took place. On Saturday, April 26, in the sunny spring weather there was no shortage of people willing to properly dispose of electronic waste and used batteries. From the early morning, the residents of Zerzeń and the surrounding areas visited our mobile e-waste collection point in large numbers. Within five hours, we collected over 2.5 tons of waste equipment and 80 kilograms of waste batteries. In exchange for the electronic waste and used batteries the residents received beautiful spring plants and reusable bags.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION – AN IMPORTANT MATTER

Visitors to our stand also received educational brochures and leaflets on the proper handling of used electrical and electronic equipment and used portable batteries and accumulators. Electro-Waste from used equipment and used batteries is classified as hazardous due to the content of toxic substances that easily penetrate the soil, air and groundwater. They pollute the environment and pose a threat to human and animal health. Even though these substances are not dangerous during the operation of properly functioning equipment, they pose a real threat in the event of improper management of the waste generated from them. The residents of Wawer understand that their everyday choices have a real impact on the condition of the environment around them, which is why they attended our event in such large numbers. This fills us with joy and motivates us to continue our efforts.
